My VCR/DVD combo works fine, but when I try to play a video in LP I just get a blue screen. What's wrong?

  I have just purchased a 42 inch LG plasma and i have a couple of high quality stereo vcrs both of which look shaky in playback.when i watch on my 11 year old jvc tv the problem is gone is this a matter of incompability?
