You shouldn't be guilty. If you took the corner at the posted speed limit, then there shouldn't be a problem. If the posted speed is too much for "inexperienced" drivers, than the posted speed should be lowered.

i didnt think you could get a ticket for going the speed limit

The cop said to me something like "If you had been driving for 50 years and were a race car driver then I could see that but you aren't experienced enough." I was going around 50 down a valley right before the turn but i slowed down to around 40 and took the turn. I told him i know the road as it's where I live and my car(a beretta) has brand new H-rated tires, front and back strut braces and can corner excellent...should I fight this one. He said it's only a ticket of around 25 bucks but I don't want my insurance to go up.

What your car can do doesn't mean a hill of beans. It's what you can do that matters. At 17 you are not experianced enough to go around turns in the dark that fast no matter if you live there or not. In fact I would go far as to say a car like that is too much car for someone with your experiance. It's an invitation to do something you shouldn't. Also no matter the speed limit for a straight away for a curve or especially a turn you should always slow down to at the most 30.

maybe he thought you should have tried to slow down, but then would have given you a ticket for recklessly braking.. cops are dumb generally speaking.

Is this really illegal though? Going the speed limit around the turn. Even if my experience is not very much could I still get a citation for something like this? I never skidded, went on the left lane, or off the road at all.

Sounds like harassment to me. If the weather were good and the roads were dry, I'd fight it.
