When someone is being rude or hateful.
-
There's a reason why it's there, and it's not so people can just go around trolling. I think downratings are appropriate when there is a question asking for facts (i.e. Why do cats purr?) and someone gives an incorrect answer (because they're farting). For an incorrect answer if it's at or below -1 I leave it alone, and if it's at or above 0 I rate it down as close to -1 as I can. In these situations I always leave a comment and if their answer is fixed or if I'm convinced they're right I will reverse my decision. When something is offensive it's best just to flag with no other response whatsoever.

never
-
a person would have to be extremly rude and hurting someone for me to down rate
-
For questions,if you find the question offensive in any way, and for answers,if you don't agree with it,and if you also find it offensive in any way..
-
When someone has been unnecessarily rude, crude, or cruel. This community is about sharing of info, insights and opinions. It's not about insulting or humiliating others. I have no tolerance for that.
-
When a factual question is answered incorrectly. When something is obviously abusive or offensive.
-
I have only downrated a few times. It was for offensive material.
-
Almost never!
-
99.9999% of the time ....never! but if you do come across a a total ass who is being a total ass and targeting someone just to stir up trouble ...get rid of them for the good of all ABers
-
I've been wondering for a while now, I am still confused about it. So I just decided to stop down-rating "unhelpful answers", and concentrate on rude or hateful material only.
-
The only time I downrated recently was when someone posted a spam for Paypal this past Saturday. I ignore most nonsense and I have a 100% positive ratings given.
-
I've never downrated anyone. I might if something was very offensive or hurtful but I haven't come across any of those yet. I've seen answers that I didn't agree with but I've just left them alone and given positive points to the other answers.
-
When the answer is gibberish, spam, racist, or POMPOUSLY-SELF IMPORTANT. Especially those people who shoot off with "Hey, I have a degree in Industrial Metaphysics, Psychology, Astronomy and Quantum Physics; I know what I'm talking about." Your educational background is never, EVER proof enough that you're right. THAT is your instant ticket for a downrate from me.
-
When: 1. The question/answer is offensive 2. It doesn't make sense 3. The words like 'r' as 'are' is overly used 4. And its just plain nonsense
-
I consider that it is better to flag it offensive or nonsense because I don´t enjoy downrating.
