  • No, I don't think it's right or good to be non-judgmental, and I don't think it's possible either. We make judgments all the time without even realizing it - from which foods we enjoy to which people we enjoy. Without making judgments how can we make any decisions at all? As you say, there are appropriate times to exercise judgment, like whether to pick up a hitchhiker, whether to gamble our paychecks at the casino, whether to participate in office gossip. Our judgment reflects our values, even when we aren't aware of it. I think often when people say we shouldn't be judgmental, they mean we shouldn't judge a person suferficially or without knowledge of their particular circumstances.
  • I prefer the words "choice" or "choose" rather than "judge". I choose cauliflower over potatoes...I am not judging potatoes, I just choose cauliflower. The word "judge" means deciding what is right/wrong, good/bad,legal/illegal..that's what judge means to me..setting oneself up as being more knowledgeable than others about things..a judge decides who wins and who loses..I like to use "preference"...I prefer jazz and classical music to rock and roll..I am not judging those who like that genre nor the music itself. So, to sum up, I try hard not to "judge" because I find the word and its connotations to be somewhat arrogant and presumptuous..but that is my opinion and certainly need not be shared by others. :)
  • Unfortunately I am very judgemental. If you're a drunk or drug addict or you're not a good parent then to me you'd be nothing, I don't care how rich you may be. I'm trying very hard to change
  • I think everyone tends to be judgmental to a degree - it's a natural part of being a human being. I don't know anyone who is completely non-judgmental. However, I know that I try (as well as many people I know) to at least be as fair in my judgments as I can be.
