Dr Laura is a radio psychologist (http://www.drlaura.com/main/). People hate her for many reasons, one of which is that she is a very conservative christian and she is able to broadcast openly over the air her ideals. People don't like people who have different ideals than they do. For some odd reason, they take offense.

More uptight and conservative than a Fundamentalist with 'roid rage. Her views of what is "acceptable" are VERY narrow and she is viewed by many as a hate-filled shrew-bitch.

People don't like being told what to do and I'd like to cement Dr. Phil's mouth in.

hey guys-she's not a doctor, she's a media personality. She was asked about it here in Dallas and broke down in tears.

Why do all you limp-dicks spend your time talking about a person who bills herself as a doctor and isn't. And to boot, you worry about who thinks what. Jeez-start a book club/poker game/street racing group.

To Katie above, Dr Laura is a conservative but she is JEWISH not Christian and she constantly cites that she is a jewish girl. To answer the qestion Dr . Laura seems to be mean, hateful at times,rude. She is constanly breathng out when she thinks that her listener asked her a ''stupid'' question and I feel she is most likely rolling her eyes at that moment. She thinks she is right of God himself. Many times I disagree with her advice and I think she is a bore. Besides I found out she has many ude photos of her when she was in her 20ies on the internet and one in particular with S and M outfit. One has her legs spread appart on a floor showing her hairy crotch.She was posing for some guy she was cheating with. These are original photos and she had to admit that in a court and was not able to prevent their publishing. Mainly, she is a hypocrite. I am not really a liberal nor conservative, rather a mix of both.

She's excellent in the advice arena . . . it's when she strays into the political arena that she runs into the ditch.

Well, I used to think she was bitchy and annoying.. but after a while of being forced to listen to her shows, I found that I pretty much agree with just about everything she says. .. regardless if she's a real doctor or not (as if a peice of paper shows you're smarter than anyone else) ...

I've known her since 1993, meaning I've been on her show, radio and TV, in Los Angeles. She can be aggravating, but that's the Jewish Mother in her. Her first and primary concern are the children. It is a statistical fact that children of single and divorced parents overall do worse than those of intact, married couples. And if you ask what about intact cohabiting couples, here's the answer to that. Dr. Laura is great in my opinion! She has not done anything wrong ! Indeed quite the opposite she has helped many and she might just be the voice for all those adorable gits from god--- our children!

"Doctor" Laura Schlessinger is a typical conservative Republican radio host with a checkered background who advocates Family Values, ethics, the sanctity of marriage, anti-divorce, stay-at-home-motherhood, anti-pornography, sexual abstinence outside of wedlock, etc. Which is fine, if she practiced what she preaches. But she doesn't and what the listener soon hears is interminable rants on hate, homophobia, and the worst child rearing advice possible (as evidence by her own son's behaviour in our armed forces). Sorry, but hate is not a family value. She touts herself as a "Doctor". Well, technically she is. She's has a Ph.D. not in Psychology like her radio show intro and her website would lead you to believe, but a degree in Physiology, which might qualify her to be a personal trainer, a weight training coach, a dietician, or with a little more education, a physical therapist, or an illustrator for medical textbooks. She received a certificate in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from the University of Southern California and while doing so had an affair with her instructor, Dr. Lewis G. Bishop, who was married with dependent children. He later left his wife of twenty years and moved in with Schlessinger. ***************************************************** Dr. Laura and the Sanctity of Marriage: Laura started dating her current husband, Lew Bishop, while he was still married.1 Laura divorced her first husband after 2 years of marriage.2 Schlessinger had premarital sex in college.6 Schlessinger had sex with Bill Ballance within hours of meeting him. she is a jewish conservative talk radio host. being an outspoken conservative, liberals dispise her pretending that they do not have anyone on the same level. liberals like to think only they have the right to "say it like it is"

I have tried to post this on a couple of different answers, but, for some reason, the system won't let me post comments here. So, let me try posting it as an answer. A number of answers here have made the accusation that Dr. Laura is not a doctor. This is false. Dr. Laura received a Ph.D. in Physiology from Columbia University in 1974. So, while she may not be a medical doctor, she is still a doctor and is as entitled to use that title as any of the professors under whom I have studied at the university and with whom I now work who are also not medical doctors. Someone does not have to be an M.D. in order to be entitled to use the title of Doctor. Any doctorate degree entitles one to us it.
