  • I graduated with a marketing degree because I couldn't hack it in accounting. That subject kept making me drowsy. I think they are good as a step toward earning an MBA which will get you forward in the direction you need to go in the business world if you want to land a decent job. Marketing however is one of the easiest of the disciplines so I do not have that much ease trying to find the ideal job but all that will change soon in the near future. Getting a degree in finance is excellent because there is so much you can do with this degree. I say go for it since we live in a service oriented society where business administration will always be a crucial aspect of society.
  • No, but as I pursue my educational prospects I'm considering it as a tool that could benefit my career path.
  • no, I haven't but i have been thinking of going back and taking some new courses so i could get out of the job i am in now and find something fullfilling in my life.
  • Yes. I took Finance, Economics, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resources, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. They were enough to get me started until I found Information Technology.
  • I have an MBA in Finance. Took the courses at night primarily to get some concept of what was going on in the financial world. Have a liberal arts undergrad degree and only had one business course undergrad. The MBA was very good. Included marketing/sales, accounting, economics (my personal favorite), some systems development (least favorite...stupid on my part) and a bunch of finance. I'm not suggesting that you need an MBA, but some/any business courses can prove valuable on a personal level. Professionally, don't really use most of the technical things I learned, although once in a while the tools/skills I learned come in handy.
  • I am 60 years old, coming toward the end of my career. Yes, I have suggestions, take as much law and accounting as you can. Also, take as much in computer software, become good, really really good with xcel and other spreadsheets. From my experience, these two skills will go futher than almost anything else in securing a job and making yourself valuable to a potential employer.
  • I did and thought it was fun even if not terribly useful
  • I have an Economics minor and a Sociology Major of 1961. The plus a history minor got me into the Social Work field. I took coursed in Personnel Management, Accounting and Finance later. Those plus other got me an MPA masters degree. All of these together were very helpful getting me started in those fields and as a Manager who needs to know things in each so they know what is going on and to understand specialists in these fields. Because MANAGERS need to know the language and what specialist are talking about. Maybe that could have made a difference to our economy. These courses are also very useful in your personal life. Even if you are a scientist or engineer!!
