Question

Help answer this question below.

How many others besides me are getting sick and tired of people with no sense of humor unjustly flagging humorous questions? I was just informed Jay was here has ben PBed for asking too many crazy thoughts questions that got flagged and I for one am mad.

    Jay Was Here - AYPWIP

To set the record straight... I was penalized for a week for sending too many feedback requests for Crazy Thought questions that were rejected. I had 5 questions rejected and sent numerous requests asking for valid reasons why they would not reinstate them. Instead of reasons or explanations, I got PB'd for a week for what they call "spamming feedback". I admit that I was getting frustrated and the amount of requests I sent may have been excessive, but it seemed to me like they were being completely ignored. I appealed the penalty and an administator removed my restrictions, but I still have not received any explanations nor have my questions been reinstated.

I want to get as many signatures on the petition as possible. My question asking if people agree or disagree with the moderators has gotten excellent responses. I believe the question is over 130 points now. Anyway, no worries... hopefully we can open the staff's eyes as to what the AB community believes is nonsense and what is not.

Thank you all for your support. If you are interested in allowing my Crazy Thought questions then sign our petition http://www.gopetition.com/online/14639.html and reply to my question http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/422288.

I think this is more backlash from the flagging of Blank Savage's notice. It was most likely a Joomla member that did it and I bet they are continuing to use our own Moderating against us, causing a big ruckus. They seem to be 'by the book' people and are NOT part of our community here so they don't care who or how they upset us. I'm thinking it could be a mixture of seeing Jay thanking people for BS's questions getting answered and also for his more 'trivial' bend which is allowed here, though obviously they don't have experience with it in Joomla-land.

Maybe what needs to be changed is the labeling of 'Nonsense' flags. What if they were called "Not a question" flags, then they couldn't flag it as nonsense but things that weren't a question could still be flagged correctly? And they couldn't be flagged Spam or Offensive either:-)

It's stupid. The AB Staff don't even know the situation and they PB whoever. THey probably PB'd Jay because his stuff was getting flagged alot so they Assumed he was spamming. Its stupid they don't even know what's going on. THey pb'd me for defending people who were getting trolled

Smart2 is back! Did you miss me?

I like a nonsense question every once in a while. Jay's "WOW, how'd you do that?" generated some nice conversation between us and I think it's a cool way to get to know people here. Every question can't be about personal dilemma, war, divorce, famine, addiction, and moderators. People need to lighten up some. Another site that I used to frequent often was the victim of moderator over-zealousness and it ended up dying a slow painful death before the plug was pulled. I hope that doesn't happen here. Incidentally, it was following an influx of new users from a recently closed-down site, too.

Are you serious?! Who cares if someone asks a lot of questions in the same category?! How ridiculous. Where, in the rules, does it say you're limited to a certain number of quesitons per category?!

I'm taking this to the Blog...

The "Crazy Thoughts" category is SUPPOSED to be for nonsense! Funny nonsense, but nonsense nevertheless. Any nonsense flags there should be ignored. Or better yet, PB the creature who's doing the flagging.

Don't PB Jay! (unless it's on whole wheat... sorry, couldn't resist.)

I could see if his questions were something like "Dog ran car mouse keys?", but to flag a question that people could answer and have fun with as nonsense is just silly.

This pisses me off to no end. It's like the Liberal Party remaining in power. More likely that Jay offended one of the user-staff, though.

Ridiculous. I enjoyed JWH's recent string of silly questions, and so did a majority of others based on their high ratings. He even got his own silly question in recognition of this feat:

    http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/421175

In any case, Jay writes plenty of great "normal" questions. Why shouldn't he (and we) have a bit of fun every now and again?

If this place gets too regimented, how long will it retain its stable of witty and talented contributors? They're certainly not here for the money...

What is the Category for if it is not for crazy questions.

First of all people should not be flagging questions from that category as nonsense, are 5 points really that important

Secondly why the hell is Jay in the PBox on the word of some point hungry anal person?

Thank you to all who answered supporting Jay I apologize that I didn't have the facts directly from the source wt the time I asked my question. The way I asked it was how it was explained to me by another party and I guess I should have waited til I heard back from Jay first before asking the question. It's just that I was so angry to hear he got pbed for such b/s . It seems to me too many peaople want to turn this site into a dead serious intelligent questions only site and I for one am not going to stand by and allow that to happen. Without people like Jay around to make us laugh this site would be very boring and dull.

I'm not sure I disagree completely with all those flaggings.

There's only so many lame questions we can take.

One or two - fine. The people who like those questions can go answer them. But when ALL someone asks are inane questions like "Hey! What are you doing here?" "Surely, you can't be serious?" "Alright! Who left this here?" "Stop that! Don't you know that you'll go blind!" "WOw! How'd you do that?" "Whoa! Where did that come from?" "Wait, what are you going to do with that?" it gets REALLY OLD really fast.

Do I think he should have been penalty boxed for that? No. Especially since he seems to have moved on since then to asking better questions. However, I can't say I'm sad to see those other questions disappear.

His questions are half as crazy as some of the rest of them. That's just dumb. I don't think people should be able to flag something as nonsense. Who's to judge what is nonsense. That really irritates me!!! If you don't like what someone says, just ignore it or downrate it. sigh...
    Quit being judgemental old ladies!

Or humorous answers. For land's sake, this is not where you go to look up information to base life/death situations on. I realize that there are actual technical and real informational outlets here, but MY GAWD, lighten up. And gimme my damn voodoo doll.

that's been going on since 2007 then I see. I have been here 5 months and it's been going most of that time. Over the last 2-3 months we have lost some awesome ABers who LOVE to use humor because if you use humor on here, you will almost always piss off every one and they will flag it. Why is the staff accepting the flagging though? God FORBID.. someone who hates life (trolls, people with no humor, etc) let anyone who enjoys life and enjoys making others laugh..get to have a good time.
