It is the Qur'an, from that not only is the veil and the bhurka imposed upon women so is FGM, female genital mutilation. Also a muslim man can marry a non muslim woman but a muslim woman can not marry a non muslim man.

That depends. Are we looking at this in context? Or are we looking at the short term impacts of both? Women in early Islamic society certainly had it better than women in early Christian society (and, indeed, had it better than most women in Europe in the time of Muhammad).
