  • Separate them in a way that they can see or at least smell each other, but not interact too closely -- one of them in a room where there is a gap under the door is ideal -- and let them get reacquainted. When your cat went to the vet, he will have picked up the strange and frightening smells of the vet's office, and his own smell may have changed as a result of his operation. Your other cat needs to have a chance to realise this is the same cat as before, and it may help to give it some time for the vet-office smells to fade.
