No, it makes you intelligent, as you have been able to learn from other peoples mistakes. It is not like a person needs a credit card, and if you need to purchase stuff online or through the mail, there are debit cards now that have the same functionality now as credit cards, so there is no need to get in debt. Credit cards are not all bad if a person has self control, it is just that temptation is never far away, so your method of total avoidance is great.

Using no credit cards is your choice, and no one can blame you for that. But the matter is that using cards you build credit history which is necessary in some cases, for example, if you want to buy a house or take a loan. Besides, I recently have come across this article http://www.requestcredit.com/Employees-Credit-Reports-1545368-page_63.php, in which they say that sometimes your credit report can be required by an employer, before approving you for a job. That really amazed me, but the thing is that we have to have credit score and therefore have to have credit cards.

No. I had my first credit card at 28. But I don't use it often.

A bit strange, but in a good way. Credit cards are great to use if you have an emergency, like your car breaks down at midnight in a deserted town. But mostly they are a huge temptation.

I have many friends who refuse to get credit cards for this very reason. This doesn't make you strange. In fact, Dave Ramsey (and his listeners) would love you for it. A credit card can be used as a tool to help you build a good credit rating (FICO score) or it can be a shovel to dig deep into debt. Establishing credit is important because your credit can influence your auto insurance rate, your chance of employment (many employers are now running credit checks), the deposits you'll need to make on utilities/cell phones/(some) apartments, and interest you'll pay on loans (including mortgages). If you have self-control and can live within your means (stick to a budget), you won't need to worry about getting into debt. My suggestion would be to use the card to make a small purchase you'd be making anyway and to pay that bill off IN FULL and ON TIME every month. If you're really concerned, you can freeze your card in a block of ice so that you won't be tempted to use it. I've known of a few people to put the card on Amazon and will buy a book they would've picked up locally otherwise. You do NOT need to go into debt to achieve a good FICO score. This is a rumor spread by the misinformed (though often well-intentioned) people. A credit card company does NOT need to make money off of your interest in order for you to have a good credit score. They make money from the merchants regardless if you pay finance charges or not. If you have student loans, you'll have a credit history. Credit cards can be a good way to boost your credit score, but it's better to have a moderate FICO score than to be waist-deep in debt. You know yourself better than I do, so do what you feel is right, even if it makes you feel strange. :)

I have never owned one either, and I'm 31. My parents always raised me to stay away from them. When I was 28, I applied for one (for emergencies) twice. Both times I was turned down. It was a mixed blessing. While I don't have a credit card to fall on in emergencies, I keep hearing one horror story after another about credit card companies these days. The ways they try to hit consumers with secret penalties and new rules is ridiculous. Many Americans are now in slavery to the credit card companies, probably for life. Sometimes it's hard to go against the grain, but at least you're not in bondage to your cards, like so many in this country.

No, this makes you normal. I don't think regular people have credit cards.

No, we need more people that can learn from others mistakes, though you can still get a credit card with a small amount to build credit. Only you control what you spend, besides ID thieves lol.

No not at all. I've never had a credit card, so I'm not in debt either. I have a debit card, and that's the furthest I'll go. (is furthest a word :p)
