  • Read Dr. William Dement's book: The Promise of Sleep; this will give you lots of good information and advise. Basically, establish regular sleep and waking cycles and stick to them. Go to bed at the same time each night. Find out how many hours of sleep you need, and get it to the extent possible. Don't disturb your sleep by watching TV or working in the bedroom--make it the place to sleep, not indulge in other activities. Respect the fact that sleep is a biological necessity, and make it a priority in your life.

  • A little benedryl works for me. It also helps with my allergies, as I live in a basement. Try about 1/2 a dose to start with. If you don't have that, you could try dramamine. Both usually cause drowsiness and aren't particularly harsh. Sweet Dreams!

  • Benadryl is my drug of choice for sleep. It's not addictive and relatively harmless. Except if I take more than one I wind up tired the entire next day.
  • drink two shots of whiskey and then start reading a book. You will not last too long if you are tired.
  • My girlfriend makes a cup of milk in the microwave then adds (real) vanilla extract and a little sugar. I use hot chocolate, but some would argue that the sugar (or caffeine) in these would keep you awake. If all else fails, benedryl or whiskey, then try reading a textbook!
  • Valerian
  • Melatonin or valerian root can be found in most any vitamin isle of major stores like walmart. Melatonin is the chemical that tells your body to go to sleep. Valerian can keep you asleep once you drop off.
  • I fall asleep with 2.5 mil. of valium. Try reciting the lords prayer over and over.
