Before, I want to deodorize myself, not my shirt. The fragrance would stick to the shirt otherwise.

After if it's a pull on. Before if it buttons. That way I don't get it on my shirt.

I put my shirt on first. I think it keeps the deodorant from getting on the outside of my shirt.

Clearly I don't understand your question..if you put it on after, you're putting it on the cloth, aren't you? This is a trick question, isn't it, and I'm just not getting it! :(
