Many mammals have societal rules such a hiearchy in the group.

I dont believe they follow rules persay but it seems to me, more of an insect politic situation where they will destroy each other. Even though they need companionship and to breed.

Yes the males usually determine who will be the agressive pack leader & the others will follow.
