Ballet is usually by yourself and sometimes with a partner but you don't dance together. And ladies do it on point. It is a different type of dance, usually telling a story, like opera. It's all about dance form and technique. Ballroom dancing is partner dancing to specific steps to certain musical rhythms.

Dancing is dancing just different forms of expression. ball room dancing is very hard work but can be learned in quite a short persion of time. Ballet is usually danced to the classics telling a set story, Classical ballet is the female usually on pointes. Modern ballet pointes are rarely worn. It also takes many years of training. It is very selective and difficult to make it to the top in classical ballet. Each company will only have one Prima Ballerina, a second solo dancer and then mainly Corp de ballet. All dancing is very hard work but well worth the effort.
