  • Please try to hang in there, I know it is tough for a couple of weeks, but then you should start to feel better. If you are feeling much worse, call your Doctor, and explain it to him/her. Do not stop taking your medication on your own, you could start feeling worse. Please read this link I got from The Mayo Clinic, I hope it helps. Good Luck→ http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/antidepressants/MH00062
  • Which medication are you on? I have been on Prozac for about 4 weeks now. The side effects have been very mild and tolerable, they included dry mouth, headache, nausea in the mornings, and all have gone away after a couple weeks. Hang in there... if they don't get better soon, talk to your doctor.
  • I have been on Cymbalta for about 2 months and I have felt sick to my stomach and I can say it will get better, just hang in there. Sprite or Gingerale helped me.
  • I've been on anti-depressantsanti-anxiety medication previously, and I remember that they took a while to 'kick in'. I think I felt 'worse' for about a couple of weeks, before they took effect fully, and I started to feel 'better.' So, if you persevere, and keep taking your medication, I think you'll find that it'll help you. Best wishes. :-)
  • Find a health food store they have a thing called "Rescue" it is all natural and made from flowers. They have drops and lil sweet candy ones. I used them last week when I was anxious over a situation. It really relaxes you with out feeling drugged. It helps go and ask someone to help you for this.
  • good luck
  • Here's the best I've got...(((hugs))) (((hugs))) (((hugs))) Hope you feel better. Happy Wednesday! :)
  • Do not watch the news
  • chocolate is a known anti-depressant. There is actually a chemical in it that lifts the mood. I buy cocoa powder. No fat or sugar--and mix it with my coffee or make sugar free cocoa. Avoid alcohol. It's a depressant. Take a long bath and listen to some nice music. Reduce stress. Read some jokes--lots of websites on the internet. Laughing stimulates endorphins. Exercise is very very good for stimulating endorphins: which reduces depression. Have a good cry and get it out of your system--if that's the case. If you are severely depressed you need to see a doctor. Depression can be bio-chemical (clinical depression) and medications can be prescribed.
  • I have major depression and take anti-depressants and a mood elevator. My advice to you is your depression does not go away is to see a doctor. If he prescribes you the anti-depressant, Effexor, refuse it. I used to be on this and when the doctor decided to take me off it my withdrawals lasted 3 MONTHS. It was the most terrifying and stressful time in my whole life. I am sorry I cannot offer you any more advice. If your depression does not go away after a week or so, please see a doctor. :-[
  • A bout of exercise often lifts the spirits. Then try some chocolate There is a herb called St John's Wort that is a natural lifter, but do check with your doctor, because it can work contrary to some other medications.
  • hey what did you do to my question?
  • well what kind of anti-depressants are you taking? I took Prozac, and after taking 8 in one shot I saw clowns... and according to my friends I would talk to them... a lot.
  • Yes the side effects are real, and stomach irritation is one of the most common. It usually goes away after a period of time, but sometimes you need to switch to another medication. This is something that you and your doctor will have to decide. Good luck.
