  • Suicide is not the 'easy way out'. It can look like it from the sidelines, but it isn't. Suicide happens when emotional coping skills are not enough. There is nothing easy about being in that much pain. As to the death penalty, most of the people awaiting their execution are terrified of it. Even if they eventually are executed (and most aren't), the time up until the execution is miserable and nightmarish. They don't have it easy either.
  • Nope, the death penalty is the best way to protect ourselves from those monsters ever getting out again. And suicide is not an easy thing to do. It's also not something they want to do. It's something they are compelled to do.
  • Suicide is a last hope, and maybe it can be the second last hope with more thought or a brave support system. I have heard prisoners say they want to die before they are put to death. They seem to mean it at the time.
