  • I have had my XBox since 2001. My Xbox has been having the same problem... Sometimes when I was loading games into my Xbox: it would freeze when I was loading it, or it would give me the message "does not recognize it as a game/DVD/CD, make sure the disk is not dirty or damaged", or it would start to load it then a few seconds later start clicking over and over (while flashing green and you could hear the rpm going up and down (and the disk would be scratched or more scratched after I took it out after the clicking)), or it would start to load it and show the Xbox logo then have one of the previous problems, or it would have any combination of the above problems ... All these problems started happening after I had been playing KOTOR (Star Wars Game), and became more frequent after I also started playing the game Fable... along with a bunch of other games, I thought I was just taking up too much memory on the Hard Drive so I deleted a bunch of games off of the Hard drive, I even cleaned out the disk tray.... the problems just kept getting worse... then just recently I saw this Site which stated that KOTOR and Fable (amongst other games) had problems with the Disk Drive, http://www.anetforums.com/posts.aspx?ThreadIndex=22555 then I saw this site which talked about the Disk Drive and it's symptoms, http://llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/xbox_dvd_repair.htm and over the last 5 years these problems have been getting more worse/more frequent and problematic 'till the point where (last year) it just stopped playing games altogether ... So I think the Solution is to Replace the Disk Drive and clean the Laser
