CONGRADULATIONS!! It depends on what meds your on. Ask your doc ASAP. You might need to switch scrips while you are pregnant, or possible wean off completly. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion either, Docs are people too, and they have different opinions on this stuff. Your doc should take into consideration what meds you are on and how long you;ve been taking them, the risk to the baby, the risk to you if you go off meds, the possiblity of switching to a different med, if possible, stuff like that. Ask questions, become informed, make an educated decision.

There are certain meds that are Category X - dangerous to the fetus. These first few weeks are SO important in development - the brain and neural tubes are developing now - PLEASE SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE!!!!!!!!

When I was pregnant I was told by my GP to come off the tablets I was taking. I was on escitalopram 10mg per day. I think the general rule is that if it is more harmful for the mother not to be on antidepressants then she can continue them, but these instances are not common.

It probably depends on the medication. It would be best to talk to your doctor. Some doctors think its a bad idea and some thinks it better for you to stay on your medication, they believe it will keep you less stressed and therefore put your baby under less stress.
