  • I think if I were to give one answer, it depends on the context in which the negative emotions are brought on. But generally I think it's easier for people to hold on to negative emotions when they get hurt because of the emotional and psychological pain that is associated with it. In terms of memory, more poignant events are easier to retain in the brain, and I would say typically the feeling of pain is one that always leaves a strong mark on us emotionally. Furthermore, it is difficult to feel positive emotions all the time because there is always the opportunity of a person being disappointed or their positive emotional level not being met because of the everyday realities/disappointments people must deal with. But without sadness we would not have happiness, and overcoming hardship is what makes the good feeling you have afterwards that much more worth it.
  • negative emotions can inspire, even though being "inspired" isn't something we need to be. to be honest.. i (for example) have no idea why i hold on to them.. but i feel like they will come in handy. Sometimes i feel that other will seek out negative emotions, just to express them through some medium, Like.. Art, Music, Poetry, Sports.. Negative emotions are great drives.
