Do you have a ratings system (more points for better answers but still a couple token points to anyone who tries) or do you just always give (or take) the default number by simply mashing the + or - button?

I have my own way of rating. I don't always give the default number, because some questions/answers can be good, but not good enough for the full amount of points.

Since I'm still low I can only give or take 2 points, so I give 1 if it's a very vague or not really helpful answer, but the person probably intended it to be, or at least showed an effort. 2 for anything else. -1 if the person is just mildly stupid and -2 if their answer makes absolutely no sense, or is so incredibly offensive I want to punch them in the face through my computer monitor. I don't usually take away points though.
