With oil running out, but there being plenty of coal, would it ever be possible to turn coal into oil?

This technology already exists. The Germans made gasoline from Coal during the second world war to off set the fuel embargo that the allied forces imposed. The Fischer-Tropsch technology, discovered by German researchers in 1923 and later used by the Nazis to convert coal into wartime fuels, was not economical but it worked.

We are not running out of oil. The dirty little secret that those who keep telling you this don't want you to know is that we keep finding more and/or developing the technology to get more out of the reserves that we alredy know about. The real problem is getting the government and the greeny weenies out of the way so that we can actually access it.

Coal is not limitless either, but more than that, it causes even more pollution than oil.

We already can. But the gov. don't want to. Obama already said it was pointless he would tax it to the point of bankruptcy.
