  • Short answer, no. Long answer, I once stayed awake for three days straight. (People kept coming to visit just as I was about to go to sleep.) Driving was involved, particularly on the second night. I am still alive. I think the trick is to be excited. I haven't heard of anyone falling asleep while they were excited (so speeding can sometimes help). But if you're feeling tired, don't stuff around, just pull over and go to sleep. I used to work night shift so I was always tired. It made no difference whether I drove during the night or day. Before going on a long trip I would get ready and then have a sleep on the floor in my house. When I woke up, I figured that was the best time to drive.
  • Probably not. JC from Top Gear was in an international race in a car against his co-presenters on public transport (it was a McLaren Mercedes SLR if you want to know). I forget the exact statistics, but basically a lack of sleep results in similar reaction times to that of being drunk. • Probably not. With only three hours of sleep you won't be alert enough to drive safely. Maybe if you only had to drive a really short distance you would be ok, but I wouldn't chance a long drive. You could get hurt...or hurt someone else.
  • Depends on the person. I know someone who doesnt want more than 4 hours a sleep a night because it works better for her. So in your case, you are the best one to judge this.
  • That is really an individual thing. Some people can function very well on little sleep, while others need more in order to be alert.
  • if it happens one night, it's all right, you have thepast night to catch up on that. but if it goes on for more dans 48h, then NO
  • it depends wat mood you are in
  • Most probably no. Sleep affects your reaction tenfold.
