  • its longer than soon and shorter than tomorrow
  • Sometimes in an hour, sometimes not until the next day.
  • If a guy says it, it means weeks. If it's a friend, it means sometime that day or week.
  • It means whenever and that can be different depending upon the time observances within a specific region. Some areas are more punctual whereas other areas are more casual than others when they say later.
  • I take it to mean "Later today."
  • If I say "I'll call you back later", it usually means I'll call them back the next time I use the phone. I'm not a phone junkie, so that could be a while. Since I'm not a phone junkie, I never really have to say that. :)
  • If I say it, it might mean never. It really depends on the person. *edit* Oops. My bad. I just notice I already answered this question. I guess you can take it as a compliment, though, that your question is worth answering twice so far for me. :)
  • "whenever".
  • When i say it, i usually mean later that day, for instance if i spoke to them in the morning/early afternoon and i say ill call you later i mean in the evening of that day
  • If it's early in the dating process, then it is a vague and noncommital statement. It means don't wait by the phone.
  • 1 minute to 1 life time, you call them.
  • I think it depends on the person's definition of "later". It could mean "later that day, week, month" there's no way to know for sure.
  • Usually when I say it I mean Tomorrow.
  • It depends, I usually mean in a few hours time. If I meant the next day I would say 2moro.
  • usually within the day they say it or the next day. longer than that its just rude.
  • To quote a great comedian (who's name I can't think of at the moment) "When a woman says she'll call, she means, 'when she gets home'. When a man says he'll call, he means, 'before he dies.' "
  • With me, it means that the next time you call me, I'm going to say "OH! I was just getting ready to call you!"... In other words, when I say "later", later means next time you call me again. It's nothing personal, I love all of my friends and family, but I would rather be beaten down by a tribe of cannibals in Papua New Guinea, strapped to a spit and slow roasted over a banana leaf fire - than to pick up a telephone and dial a phone number. This is odd, though, because I really enjoy talking to people... Face to face. "later" for the folks that call me, usually means tomorrow.
  • Depends it can mean an hour or a day or a month or a year. Its just a term to be used that you will call them sometime again in your lifetime probabaly. Ive said see ya later to someone who I have never met before and they didnt know me...so can just be a way of saying bye too.
  • sometimes it means never.
  • Ugh, if that statement is from a boy I am thoroughly tired of that phrase. Who knows? Its quite torturous.
  • I don't know but I wish if they said it they mean it. I mean why say to someone "I will call you later" if you clearly have no intention on doing it. Why not just say "im so glad we ran into each other today, it sure was nice to see you" Because when the person says "later" and "later" never happens the other persons feelings get hurt..... Does that make any sense? I didn't know how to word it exactly.. :)
  • If they are anything like my friends about 2 month's it really winds me up.
  • anywere between the times of 5 min - 1 hour.
  • It means "In about an hour or longer if I find something more interesting to do."
