  • This could only happen if 27 batters were either walked or hit by pitch, and then caught stealing or picked off without any batter getting out while at the plate. The odd sac fly or sac bunt could be involved too I suppose as they don't count towards batting averages. Obviously this is a stupidly contrived scenario that would never happen though.
  • It was thrown on opening day. Bob Feller of the Cleveland Indians threw a no hitter against the White Sox. Cleveland won 1-0. April 16, 1940.
