  • Why Jewish people? What's the difference?
  • Like any other person from any ethnic, racial, religious or cultural background, some people chose to admonish themselves for their heritage and try to deny it or hide it by actually attacking others of the same heritage. This is usually more common in groups that have strong sterotypes attached and/or have experienced some sort of collective struggle, persecution or strife in their history. They "why" is not based on the fact that "self-hating Jews" are Jewish, it is based on the fact that they are human. It is a psycho-societal phenomenon.
  • Because you usually hate what seems''too right'', didn't hate that perfect little kid in your class that always the best et??
  • For the same reason that members of any other group would hate/dislike themselves. We're all human, it isn't as if our motivations vary to any significant degree.
  • I never heard of a jew that hates him/herself. They are generally very nice and friendly people. They are also very proud of their herritage and who they are. It's the people who do not understand them that hate and dislike them. It's been an ongoing struggle for jews throughout the ages in their faith, but it makes them stronger and better people in the end. Jews are people to really look up to.
  • I was unaware that they did. I have never met one that had these feelings.
  • Many secularized Jews feel insecure when trying to fit into the general American population. They would rather not be embarassed by being stereotyped with what they consider backward Jewish groups whom wear payots, beards, dark clothes and wide brimmed hats. This has lead some Jewish people to found new denominations with less restrictions on their daily lives and to fit more readily into the American society such as Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist and Humanistic movements. There are Jews who attempt to hide their heritage by changing their names and undergoing cosmetic surgery. To some extent, this could be justifiable behaviour in light of a history of discrimination in the U.S. against them.
  • The main reason for their dislike is the zionist movement. Some of the do not support it. My 2 cents.
  • They want to be like everyone else?
