usually skin skin and more skin... not always sometimes just being too gorey, too violent or too raunchy can earn the infamous nc-17 rating which most theatres refuse to show

In short, anybody under the age of 17 can get into an R-rated film with a parent or guardian, but cannot get into an NC-17 film period, regardless.
