In my opinion no!

Not really, no.

For most people who put any stock in the Bible at all, it serves a slightly greater purpose than a mere instrument for increasing power.

The Bible is hardly a political document. Besides, it is not a single document; rather, it is a collection of documents written over a long period of time by many different people, who had sometimes different and even conflicting views and agendas. Given the number of followers -- don't forget China! --I would say that the Communist Manifesto was more successful, until the recent collapse of communism. Some argue, though, that what has collapsed was not a true implementation of the original idea, which is still appealing (and, BTW, has some common points with the Bible).

No it is not. The Bible is God’s Word to us, His way of communicating with His creation. Mankind has rebelled from God and joined Satan in his rejection of God’s sovereignty. The political parties, leaders and documents come under Satan’s control and share more in common with him.

No. The Bible does not brainwash people. The Bible points people to the Saviour, the Lord Christ Jesus. Organized religion is what brainwashes a lot of people. As for politics, most politics are against the Bible and hate what it has to say anyway. The Roman Catholic Church and some other religious powers in the past may have used it as an excuse to do the evil that they did, but now politics and the Bible are usually seperated. I hope that this is helpful. :) -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!

Political propaganda no. Transformed people's life's yes. Levticus is proof.
-
Yes

propaganda, lol I like that. I think so. People use it justify their condemnation of what they dont like or what THEY feel is wrong

In your question, you are saying two things: 1) It was political 2) It was 'released' I'll stay outside of the Bible and just state historical facts as known to textural scholars. The Bible was written by many authors over thousands of years... it wasn't written by politicians. That being the case, it wasn't 'released', it was 'conglomerated' over a period of time.

Are you going to read all these answers? Will it really change or enlighten you?

And just what political system, political ideology, political party, or political candidate do you imagine it was contrived to promote? Now the Davidic Corpus (Judges, Ruth, and 1&2 Samuel) certainly has a political agenda: championing the Davidic monarchy over a united Israel -- which is hardly relevant today -- but 1) it wasn't very successful at that, and 2) the political point is secondary to and dependent upon the moral points: (a) Israel should be one, united under God, and (b) what kind of man should be king of Israel. Even so, the Bible has been the bane of the powerful ever since "The Bible" was just the Pentateuch (the 1st 5 books). There is no other body of works, religious or secular, that so consistently, powerfully, and flagrantly attacks injustice, abuses of power, greed, vainglory, haughtiness, conceit, envy, and "the rule of men" as does the Bible.

I believe so. It was very effective in controlling the medieval masses, and its still going strong today :P

I keep adding answers instead of posting comments. Is there a support group for that? But really, is there a way to delete an answer? Cuz I just come in here and write whatever in place of my original answer.

The bible was strategically written to make people easier to manipulate into going along with extreme political agendas. The bible is one of the darkest pieces of literature ever written. They manipulate the human emotion to hook people, they use fear to keep people in line, and encourage hope of and faith in a more promising afterlife so that they don't care enough about this life to make any real changes. Then they ask for your money. It's a pretty freaking crazy system, and there are some very intelligent and greedy people behind it all.

i don't think it originally was written with the intent for propaganda but overtime things change i don't think any holy book was written with the original intent to be propaganda . still religion is always a useful weapon for politics, no matter where you stand
