  • Just call me Gumby.
  • And lower.
  • I'd do it and then try to figure out how I would ever pay for it
  • Would not pay that much. I'd be wearing dentures at the age of 39.
  • I'd find a way to get a discount.
  • Uh, I'm kind of in that situation now, because I not only need work on my teeth, but I am also getting braces (which, I guess, is long-term work). It's worth it to me and it's what I want. I don't really want dentures. I mean, it's a lot of money, and it's going to take a lot of work to make that money, but I'd rather have my actual teeth than braces, especially at my age.
  • I would do exactly what I'm gonna do, when I get the money, have them ALL pulled out. My teeth hurt too much anyway. They have always been overly sensitive.
  • I love my teeth, I think they are very nice...BUT if I had to pay $9,000 for work on them or $3,000 for dentures, it would be a VERY difficult decision for me. $9,000 for dental work is just beyond my comprehension!! See if you can't find a dental school in your area that can do the work for CONSIDERABLY less!!! That's just crazy!!!
  • Depends on what they are going to do that costs 9K and how much it might hurt.
  • that would be my worst nightmare, and not for the money because i live in Belgium so i am well insured. those drills, those sucking thingies, that chair... i think i would demand a complete sedation, like in a surgery, and then let the dentist do whatever needs done. and i dont want to know what he will do. i will have nightmares for the rest of my life if he tells probably.
  • I think you are all underestimating how useful your natural teeth are. $9000 is not that much when you consider how you will feel looking at yourself with no teeth in the mirror. Secondly many of you don't realize how uncomfortable dentures are. You will end up sacrificing more than you realize if your dentures don't fit very well, and I guarantee you after a year or two they wont fit due to bone resorption of your jaws. When you can't bite into things becuase your dentures wont stay put, when you spend several weeks in a row visiting a denturist just to try to get your dentures relined so they do stay put only to have to do it every year sometimes two even three times a year. do your homework, don't think that just becuase you have dentures that you won't have to brush/clean your gums, take care of your dentures, etc... But then again, I should realize that most people who need dentures before they are 50 have very poor oral hygiene with filthy uncared for mouths. If you think you can start taking care of your mouth, ie, brushing, flossing, rinses, then you should get your natural teeth fixed. If you think dentures are going to solve your problems, you're wrong. Like I said, do some homework before you have all your teeth pulled, cause once they're gone, they are gone.
  • I would try to come up with the money or another solution other then dentures ,poor fitted dentures and not seeing your dentist yearly can lead to oral cancer ,i read that and couldnt beleive that poor fitted dentures could do that.I think dentist charge way to much its crap!I have 3 temp crowns on and need permenent ones put on and they want like 1200 a crown crazy! But i'm doing it.
  • Try to get a second opinion or third. Don't go to the dentists that advertise. Call an oral surgeon and ask him to recommend a good dentist. A small office and honest dentist can do a good job at less cost.
  • It would all depend on how rich I was.
  • If I could afford it, I'd DEFINITELY keep my own teeth
