I watched and episode of L.A Ink and they mentioned an artist by the name of Michael Hussar. I Googled him and he inspired this question.

That garbage they had the NY metropolitan that created a major issue. The Crucifix in a jar of Urine. That is not art, and it was distrubing that any rational person would even consider to debate the issue, let alone actually agree that it was art.

When I was 13 my parents took me from my tiny backwoods community to San Francisco. We visited some art museums, and as an artist facinated by art, I was in heaven. At one point, giddy with the overwhelming visual displays, we stood before a huge, dark green monstrosity by an a very famous artist (I think it was Van Gogh, but now I am not certain). It was entitled, "The Scab". It was house paints on plywood. I was shocked. It was not a painting. It was a crude commentary on Scabs who cross strike lines. The subject was not one I was familiar with. I knew scabs to be healing wounds. I was disturbed by the title, the lack style from one of my heros, and it was simply....ugly! 40 years later I can still visualize it and feel a tiny part of myself pull away from it. It was an effective piece of work!
