I have an mp3 file, how can i save it as data, and if i did save it as data file, would it use up lesser space than an mp3 file to save it on a usb memory stick?

An MP3 file is data. You can make it use less space by compressing it, but I doubt you'd gain more than a 1% saving in space, because MP3 files are already compressed. You could "re-rip" the music at a lower sampling rate; that would make the file smaller, but you would also lose sound quality.
