  • Why? I think if I saw so many people congratulated for reaching Sage and then it's my turn and everybody doesn't do it anymore, how is that fair or kind to people. They reached it too, so why no "'Good Job!" or "Happy for you". It's still quite an accomplishment and very understandable when we have reached the end of summer and many people had the time to spend here. If someone doesn't like them, then don't participate. Use the option to not see conversational questions. Go look at a different category where you won't see them, even Outside the Bag is is nice a broad, all sorts of things still show up there. I don't need to save my good wishes for people. There is plenty to go around. If I grow tired or bored with Congrats, I'll just go visit Entertainment or Home & Garden. There are thousands of questions I haven't even seen yet, let alone answered.
  • There is nothing inherently wrong with adding to the happiness qoutient of any occasion : )
  • Hell no. This issue of "non-question/answer" related socializing on AB has been around for as long as I've been here -- AB doesn't give us another way to socialize, and maybe that's because nobody has dreamed up a way to implement it. I don't think a chat/forum service will do the job. We must remain glued to the steady stream of new questions/answers/feedback.
  • I never turn down a reason to have a party.:)
  • No, I think Sages should be congratulated.
  • I think Sages should be congratulated. What happens when all 70 Sages hit Mestro? Are we to stop again until they hit Guru?
  • I think everyone should congratulate me for being me... BUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNN!
  • I ignore those messages, and I expect to be ignored if/when I achieve those levels.
  • I've supported the whole "Congratulations questions" movement, even though I don't always participate. If there's one thing almost nobody gets enough of, it's appreciation. My sister has this quote that gets attached to the bottom of all her e-mails, it says "If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we would find in each person's life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility." - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow That pretty much sums the matter up for me: everybody has done bad stuff, of course, and some are worse than others. But the amount of wonderful things that most people have done, for which they've never received any appreciation, is huge. Our world suffers from an Appreciation Deficit Disorder of such an amazing magnitude that we've become completely numb to the shortage. So I don't care if I have to wade through 10 pages of congratulations answers a day to get to other content: I think those postings do more good than 98% of all the helpful advice we give each other.
  • Oh what's the difference? A few little words here and there. If people don't like it, it takes one click either way to pass it up.
  • When the "Congratulating Answerbaggers" came at first, it was only meant to congratulate Maestros and above, as a social contract. When I reached Sage level, no congratulated me, because not many users thought of Sage as a high level, until the time would pass. Then as the time passed, the Sages was also added into the cateogry, and yes, there are many Sages here on Answerbag, more than 100 for sure. (Including the Maestros and Gurus) Although it takes almost 15,000 points to reach Sage level, I don't personally mind these questions coming.
  • But i just got here :o( +5
