Are online friendships more or less formal than offline friendships? How do you compare your online friendships to your offline friendships?

Less formal, somehow I don't seem to see them as real. It's hard to explain but I don't consider someone I meet on-line as anything like my real life, face to face, day to day friends.

the on-line community is parallel and different to reality. its quite a phenomenon, if you ask me. i have met some very interesting people on-line but i think the intensity of actually seeing someone, being able to hang out with them.. gets lost somewhere in cyberspace. it is more of a virtual friendship by all means... i don't know if i would consider it more or less formal, that to me depends on the individual person. i would say though online it is easier to be fooled but in real life it is easier to be hurt... they both have their pros and cons.
