  • Jesus christ died on the cross to save us from all of our sins.
  • Jesus' death was a part of a complete work that encompasses also his resurrection and ascension into heaven. First of all we need to go back to the Law of Moses. The law was given to the nation of Israel at Mt Sinai, in the Sinai desert. They had just come out of Egypt and 400 or so years of slavery. They had also come from 400 or so years of being around all the Egyptian gods. God wrote his ten commandments, and then from there gave them the whole law. He formed an agreement (covenant) with the Israelites that he would be their God and be with them if they would worship only him, and follow his law. One of the fundamental laws of existence in God's way of doing things is that the wage (reward) of sin is death. Yet how can we know what sin is unless somebody tells us? That is why he gave the law. Yet in that law he put in ways to defer that death penalty for the lawbreaker. This is where the sacrificial system came into existence. The shed blood of a slain animal (usually a bull, male lamb or ox) was given in place of the person's own blood, which would have been shed if they had been made to die for their sins. The trouble is that every time a person sinned, they needed a new sacrifice, and the use of animals provided a sacrifice that was flawed at best. Enter Jesus. Believed by most mainstream Christians to be God in the body of a man, he did not have our sinful nature. In fact, although he was tempted in every way, he never committed one sin. Because of this, he could have lived forever in sinlessness. Death only comes through sin. However, what he did was took the place of those animals. The perfect, sinless blood of a sinless man paid the price for every sin, past, present and future, and released us from the bondage to the law. If we chose to accept that sacrifice on our behalf, then we are released from that death penalty. His death also instituted a new covenant, or agreement, in which those who accept the sacrifice are covered by that blood - it not only covers our sins, but removes them completely. The book of Romans says that Jesus didn't just take our sins, he took our sinful natures on himself, and exchanged them with his righteousness. We are now righteous before God, through Jesus. There is much, much more involved in his resurrection and ascension into heaven but to answer the specific question, this is what was achieved by his death.
  • the thing that was actually achieved was being able to go to heaven when we have no right to. jesus was perfect never did anything wrong thats how he got into heaven and he was gods son, But as we all know we are not perfect so we should go to hell. But since jesus died and took all the responsibilty for all the sin that u and me did and even the sin ur gonna do in a few hours or even in a couple of years. now if we accept jesus christ as our savior and let him be the ruler of our lives we will go to heaven and praise him forever!! and we wont be burning in hell which they say is worse than a 3 degree burn on ur face and all over your body for all of eternity the burning never stopping.. wolves gnashing at ur skin ripping u to shreds and it never stops. and all you'll be able to think about is when people talked to u about accepting christ.. ouch im glad im goin to heaven! and i hope you are too! hope to see u there! god bless,
  • The death of Christ was to give people a way to God thru one avenue... Not a smatering of varied religions & philosphies...
  • Now we don't have to go to hell like we justly deserve because Jesus Christ, God's perfect Son, took our penalty on the cross for us and rose from the dead to be our Lord and Saviour. Now, through Him, we have access to God the Father and can be saved by turning from our sins and by grace through faith accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. I hope that this is helpful. -In the service of the Master. Thank you and God bless you!
