Does anyone like to take the kids fishing? When you go are you really into catching fish or just being out with the kids?

My mom used to take us fishing, and I used to take my kids fishing. The one thing you learn, and it never changes, is that if you have kids fishing with you it is about the kids. Don't expect to do any serious fishing yourself. They tangle lines, lose bait, fight over fishing areas, get hungry, make noise, throw rocks in the water when they get bored.... Fishing is pretty boring for kids. They like the time with you, but fishing is actually sitting still for a long time until nothing happens. Kids are not made for that kind of non-activity! So enjoy the time you are using to make some major good memories and take a few pictures. They will be your best catch of the day!

I haven't been fishing in years. Catching a fish wouldn't be most important, just being out on the lake or ocean and enjoying the day is reward enough.
