  • Is it possible that while you are typing, your thumb is touching the keypad? I had this problem with my dell inspiron -- the touchpad was just too sensitive, so I turned it off and the problem went away. Another option is to tape a piece of cardboard over the touch pad. To turn off the touch pad, or the pointing stick -- use the control panel, and set the properties for the pointing device.
  • I had the same issue. It's annoying, I know. I took the laptop apart and cleaned everything. Cleaning the while thing probably fixed a bunch of things. I believe the core issue is dirt on the touch pad. You can take the plate out and clean it - there is dirt around the edges putting pressue on it.
  • I had the same problem and fixed it by disabling the mouse pad as follows: When your laptop begins booting up, tap on the F2 key to enter setup. I found the settings for the mouse pad on page 4. Press Alt+P to advance to next page until you see an option listed on the left of the screen for Touch Pad Arrow down to highlight Touch Pad Once highlighted, press the right arrow to change the option to serial mouse Then press Esc to exit Select the option to Save and reboot
