Yes, I have done that. I tend to withdraw when I'm hurt or confused..I pull away and stay by myself and try to figure things out..sometimes it can take a few days..sometimes just a few hours. But I need to work my way out of a hole, or a problem, or whatever..I do it best alone without distraction..everyone has problems so I try to solve any I have on my own. Solitude can be a very healing thing. :)

I always wanted to do the Richard Gere/Sting thing and head to a monastry in Tibet to "find myself", but it has never been practical to do so

I often have the need to go away from the world but not to rethink my life - just to get away from it or from all the Sh*t in my head. I have done so since i was five years old.

Everytime I have a big problem I want to do just that. I even look for ways to make it work, for ways to escape. When I don't find one, I inevitably think about death. I realize (over and over again, each time a bit more resolutely) that the changes I'm looking for are a part of life. I can't be "fixed" unless I'm willing to live through the troubles and find a solution, experience the bad and become a better person. This will sound silly, but, a butterfly doesn't emerge out of thin air. It is born of struggle, of what some people would call pure ugliness; and if it stops struggling too soon it will not survive.
