  • Yes, we can be sure that they were baptized as they performed many baptisms themselves. The apostles shared in performing baptisms in water under the direction of Jesus. The baptism performed by them was upon members of the Israelite nation who had sinned and it was in symbol of repentance in the manner of John’s baptism. John 4:1-4 says;“ When, now, the Lord became aware that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John— although, indeed, Jesus himself did no baptizing but his disciples did— he left Ju•de´a and departed again for Gal´i•lee. But it was necessary for him to go through Sa•mar´i•a.”
  • To Perryman, an additional or clarifying question: Are you suggesting that because the Disciples baptized they were baptized? Who Baptized them...as Jesus did not Baptize anyone? Did they come from John as Baptized already, before joining with Jesus? This is an important, but not eternal question. Many divisions are in the church because of man's attempt to understand traditions, which most have come from men as a way of remembering the essential message that was meant to be conveyed. I am afraid we have lost much of the essence of the original messages. I understand, for example, that for the first few centuries all baptisms were by immersion. But that changed with the introduction of infant baptism. ( According to sources quoting the Catholic Enclyclopedia.) So, we have an important change in liturgy, and why...a revelation to a Pope or Council?
  • They obviously were baptized! Jesus IS our example as christians (although not a new tradition...even John was not the first to baptize!). Furthermore just because JEsus did not baptize to our knowledge he allowed the disciples to do many of them with no correction ...if there were correction then do you think he would havd gotten baptized himself and THEN turn around and tell them to baptize everyone that they teach in Mathew 28:19 and Mark 16!? John even prophesied that Jesus would come baptizing with fire and of the Holy Spirit so it is OBVIOUS that he condoned baptism by being the FIRST to do so himself!
  • Never mind that. I wonder if they were circumsized
