They should be allowed to do exactly the same as anyone else. If they were baned from doing so they would just create a company (or pay someone to do so) and buy the information from them. As long as the spy ware is not compulsery to run the main OS on a computer then there is no reason as to why they should be stopped. Just use a spy filter and remove it!

NO!
-
Excuse my language here, but -- hell, no. That's about the last thing the feds should do - invade the thought lives of its citizens. That's one of the scariest events imaginable - one step closer to the Thought Police.
-
I dont think it should be allowed but I am sure they do it anyway.
-
They should not be allowed to, no. But, on the other hand, if you have nothing to hide, why should you care who sees it?
-
Yes, they should do and also stick a camera in our bedrooms and toilets!
-
Jesus, what a thought. I don't think it would ever happen because the internet would die over night as people make a mass exodus away from it and they're making far too much money out of it. I don't trust politicians, whatever guise they come in and for them to start spying on citizens is outrageous. We seem to forget that the human race has survived for millions of years without computers, so I'm pretty sure we could survive without the internet. What do you think?
-
Nope... Think about the laws on respecing peoples privacy. IF you make the bloody law dont go breaking it.
-
good luck to them ...their heads would spin to fast from the speed of having their sorry arses in court(s) because I for one would fight the SOB's all the way ....
-
Only with a warrant. Otherwise, it is a violation of that person's personal property and right to privacy.
-
Not without a warrant!
-
no way.... appsolutely no way.
-
Without cause or a warrant? No. No. No. Did I say NO!
-
As long as I have the right to fire bomb their homes.
-
No, and neither should large corporations, who'd probably relish the opportunity more.
-
no and its illegal too they are not allowed to do anything that is unconstitutional. But i wouldn't put it past them though
-
Not according to the Bill of Rights... If they still follow that old scrap sheet anyway...
-
No, but then this state of affairs already exists and US citizens are routinely spied on, both on and offline.
-
ABSOLUTELY NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS AND BEYOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Governments should NOT be allowed to install spyware on citizens' computers because that's a breach of privacy. It's like somebody looking over your shoulder for everything you do. Certain governments, like the Chinese Government, practice this and it is for this reason that they are regarded with scorn in the computer world. Groups like CDC Communications have actually made a hobby out of finding and exploiting security holes in Chinese Government Internet Firewalls and Surviellance programs so people in China can circumvent these methods to curb freedom and are allowed to access information the Chinese Government doesn't want them to see [like stuff on the Tiananmen Square Massacre].
-
everyone else does
-
No.. And the reason I said no, is becuaes if ones not doing anything that could cuz bad things to take place to the US of A then spyware should not be install.
-
Not just no, but HELL FUCKING NO!!!!! Without probable cause, that is a violation of the Constitution that many men and women (including myself) have donned a uniform and sworn to support, uphold, and defend against all enemies both foreign and domestic. Too much blood has been spilt to allow Washington to wipe it's ass on the Bill of Rights.
-
The answer is of course NO and don't say only if they have a reason because they just might create a reason to invade your privacy, You don't think "The STATE" would create a problem to justify there existence or eliminate there perceived enemies or even create an enemy where none exist, control freaks are control freaks religious or otherwise to busy watching what you read and not busy enough taking care of REAL problems that they themselves created .. This is a tool of free speech and is already protected get rid of those that wish to infringe upon it .. ~Nemo~
-
yes, so I can find where it came from and hack the effin government ;)
-
I would burn all my computers if that happened.
-
well i think that they shouldn't be able to know everything but maybe they should track certain programs like bittorrents so that they could crack down on illegal downloading which IS their right. But if they are tracking personal info i agree. that is not only immoral bbut an invasion of your privacy.
-
With a warrant, yes.
-
No. That Invades your privacy, plus they cant do that because your paying for an Internet connection service, like Aol, Tiscali, Sky, BT. However your ISP can see everything u do because you are connected to their server. I dont know if thats possible but it does invade your privacy, unless they need to or have permission etc. You can email me if you need anymore info. selwood.ryan@live.co.uk
