Celebrate is not the right word at all to use - They will be deep in my heart and prayers

I dont think that ANY american celebrates 9/11! Most just have a moment of silence in rememberance.
-
No one person that I know identifies it as a New York thing. All Americans suffered losses. If they are doing any memorials and such, they're bound to be in New York, because that's where the tragedy happened.

It wasn't just a New York thing, though the World Trade Center was certainly the most prominent thing ever attacked. And celebrate is the wrong word. We commemorate 9/11 in the same way we commemorate the attack on Pearl Harbor or the Challenger Explosion. Only the bastards who hate America celebrate it.

it shouldn't be just a New York thing or even just an American thing... All the countries who have had terrorist attacks happen (excluding the IRA ones during the troubles) should stand united and commemorate the atrocities that took place on that day. I'm amazed September 11 isn't a National Holiday over there. I always make sure I mark it in some way. I'm British... I remember 9/11 and every single terrorist attack after that including the ones in London, which by the way spookily enough I predicted... I had a weird premonition dream about 9/11 as well, 2 weeks to the day before it happened The bombings in London happened on July 7th 2005 that's my Gran's birthday and the Olympics had been announced for London in 2012 barely 24 hours before. I turned on BBC news 24 and there had been a series of terrorist attacks in London not quite on the scale of 9/11 but a terrorist attack on the railway system of a major city nonetheless

I don't think it was just New York, I think that everyone is the U.S. was effected greatly and is still affected! It was a horrific thing that happened for all of us!
-
It isn't. 9/11 shook the world. On that day, at that time every nation in the world was represented in the WTC, every country lost someone. We all remember, worldwide.

I don't know where you get the idea that 9/11 is just a New York thing. It happened in NY, but was an assault against the whole Nation. We don't celebrate it. We have a memorial about it.It's percussions were felt throughout the Country, if not the world.
