  • Ironically I was reading Popular Science Today, and There was a little blurb about Tinfoil being used to remove rust. This is what it says in full. "My old bike Now Gleams like its fresh from the shop-but before I restored it, the rust on the frame just made it look kind of depressing. Fortunately I discovered how effective tinfoil can be as a rust remover. Just fold a small sheet, wet it lightly, and scrub the surface thoroughly. The rust and other buildup will disappear with minimal scratching, no matter what metal you're attempting to clean." (popular science October 2007 page 90) I know mythbusters did an episode on the coke part, but I can not remember what they decided. It appears that the tinfoil probably had mot of the effect. Too bad it doesn't work on tacky black plastic...
  • Yes - they proved this on 'Mythbusters' last year. It's rather messy though...
