Its all up to you and what ever you choose is just perfect. It really does not matter weather or not you have a religion and it really does not matter weather or not you believe in god. Do not get hung up on what other people tell you is correct in these type of things. The only thing that is important is how you treat other people and that called ethics and has nothing to do with religion.

Belief in God is good. The religion you choose is irrelevant...unless, of course, that religion is untrue. It's important to ask tough questions about faith. Zen, for example, teaches that something can be true and untrue at the same time. This seems like nonsense to most of the rest of us. Mormonism, as another example, teaches that Jesus came to America after His resurrection...but there's no actual physical evidence that the civilization they claim He found here actually existed. If you're going to pick a religion, I suggest one of two choices: 1. Pick the religion you like best. This will probably bring a sigh of relief, since such a religion will probably allow you to do whatever you want, whenever you want, with whomever you want. This is likely to leave you unsatisfied, so avoid looking at yourself in the mirror. 2. Pick the religion that appears to be true, and never stop asking hard questions. I've chosen Christianity after years of study and asking tough questions. I'd recommend it to anyone. If you have some tough questions you have trouble getting answers to, feel free to let me know. I'll help in any way I can. Ismene: First, you're very wrong about the evidence for Jesus' existence. There's less evidence that Plato and Caesar existed, yet no one questions them (because they're no emotionally invested). Second, you're very wrong about the supposed invalidity of the New Testament based on the time frame. There are no ancient documents with more textual evidence than the New Testament. The copies we have are closer to the originals and much greater in number than any other work from anywhere close to that time. Third, you don't prove the "truth" of a religion. You look at the evidence, plain and simple. I can see by your response that you haven't looked at the evidence...let me encourage you to do so, if for no other reason than to not look bad on Answerbag. You may or may not choose to have faith in God, but you'll be much better informed. Let me know if I can help. ...continued. Ismene: try reading both sides of the issue. First, excluding Biblical texts as evidence shows bias. The Bible isn't a single book, but a collection of 66 by many authors. No matter your opinion of their truthfulness, you should recognize that fact. Like it or not, there are at least a half-dozen witnesses found there. Non-Christian references to His existence that should be considered are found in the writings of Lucian, Celsus, Tacitus, Pliny, Suetonius, Velleius Paterculus, Dio Cassius, Lucian, Galen, the Talmud, the Midrash, Mara Bar Serapion, Thallus, and YES, even Josephus. Most scholars agree that his works have been interpolated, but don't believe if of each reference to Jesus. A little homework goes a long way.

This is a statement heard all too much. The real question is can you believe and not fallow. I think not this is how. If a robber held a gun to your head and told you to give them your purse or wallet would you well yes. We all would and the same is for a belief in god ether you believe or you don’t. Ether you serve him or you don’t. They can’t be separated. If you believe in god than you must believe his word. That said the bible sais on the day of judgement every knee shall bow and every tung confes crist as lord. That tells me you don’t have any chose once faced with the knowledge of god but to commit to him.

Religion does not matter to God! God hates it. People today are trying to gain their way to God through religion and it wont work! It was the religious leaders that hung Christ on the cross. They said it was more important to follow the law and rituals than to have a relationship with God and they spoke out against Christ for healing someone on a the sabbath day. When Christ came He gave us a new covenant.Jesus came to fulfill the law of the old testament by dying on the cross. We dont have to preform a certain ritual or procedure as many in the catholic church do but, by faith except His free gift of salvation. There are alot of people fighting over religion and many say"there are many ways to heaven" but God says,"But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." (I Corinthians 8:6) He also says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death".<BR> (Proverbs 14:12) Many are confused about who the true living God is and therefore there is alot of controversy and fighting. The anti-christ will come and say" lets get rid of religion" and tell people that we are our own god therefore decieving many.I am not religious, I am saved by the grace of God. He has taken me from the darkness and brought me into His glorious light!

The life a person leads is what matters. If this life is what is meant by "religion", then religion matters. If this life meant by "faith" or "belief" then faith or belief matters. If there is a belief which has no impact on the life being lived, then it means nothing. Those who think it does are those of whom Jesus said, "Many will say Lord, Lord, and I will tell them depart from me you workers of evil, I never knew you."
