  • wow...good question...I really don't know how to answer. hmmm...I probably would, but technically it would be bad. The things belong to someone else and it is their right to give it to you or not. Say you were to ask for it, if they said yes, good for you. But if they said no, there is nothing you can do. You shouldn't even hold it against them. You have almost no right. The only thing that you have is maybe you could cause them to take compassion on you because you are near death.
  • Of course it is. The world isn't all black and white, you know. Everything is in the gray.
  • ethically no, but it may be necessary. As a Christian, I believe that all lying is wrong, but I also know that, because this is a fallen world, sometimes people are put in situations where there is NO clear right position. Examples of this are: 1))the Hebrew midwives in Egypt who lied by saying that the women gave birth quickly before they got there, thus making it impossible to kill the male children. 2)people who hid Jews in WW2, who had to lie to protect them. The lie is still wrong, and must be atoned for (confessed and laid upon Jesus), but there was no choice. Now, if there is absolutely NO choice for you but to steal (eg the government has declared you a persona non grata and you have no income at all), you may have to. But it is still wrong and must be atoned for (confessed and laid on the back of Jesus). I doubt, though, that this is the case in any western country. If you do not have money for food, there are aid agencies to help. I would be surprised if there was a need to steal. If you need advice on this, and want to talk, contact me through my website (see profile). I am in Australia, but may be able to locate assistance for you in the country you are in, to stop you having to steal. All the best.
  • If its not then i'm done for...but i have been in very low situations in my life and i have had to steal food to eat....i lived on mushrooms for a week, then 20 loaves of bread from a bakery, i had too.
  • I don't know if it is okay, well no, It isn't okay but I would do it if my kids, family, friends or myself was starving.
  • I think it depends on the frame of reference for example, in a famine situation where everybody is in the same predicament then no it is not ok to steal what little food someone else has. However if it is just a case of economic inbalance then yes i say fill your boots, pockets, mouth, in fact anything with a hole!
  • We could examine this from several points of view. The Kantian/Non-Consequentialist view would say that yes, it is wrong, because Stealing, in itself, is a wrong act. The Utilitarian point of view would examine the situation and decide on whether or not the act would bring about the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest number of people. I, personally, don't think it's wrong.
  • Ask Victor Hugo he wrote a book about it call Les Miserables
  • Yes, if it is necessary to survive. It's better to steal than die.
  • It happened. Especially in a country that hit by economy crisis.
