  • The way I understood it, the U.S. destabilized Cambodia and actually were the ones who put the Khmer Rouge into power. Good ole Uncle Sam can always be found where there is money to be made, and then he will do whatever he needs to (in secret, of course) to make it pay big dividends to the small band of money mongers in power. Unfortunantely, this means that we end up with more despots than democracies because greed and altruism don't mix.
  • Upon what basis do you make this claim? From my reading of the history (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khmer_Rouge), the Khmer Rouge was always anti-American and never made any secret of this fact. Why would the US then intentionally give them any support? US bombing of North Vietnamese Army positions in Cambodia may have had the unintended consequence of pushing those people to support the Khmer Rouge, but that was not the US supporting the Khmer Rouge. Not anyone can say anything that they like on the Internet. However, if they can't provides sources to back up their assertions, then their assertions are worthless. (Note, it was the North Vietnamese that invaded and used Cambodia to stage attacks on Sourth Vietnam. The US's involvment in Cambodia was a direct result of this invasion.)
