For those living in northern California, was there a slight haze and smoky smell on September 5, 2007? What city do you live in?

Yes, there wasn't a single cloud in the sky, yet the sky was gray below about 45º above the horizon. There was a definite smoky smell in the air, I could barely see the mountains 2mi west of me, and there was no real sunset. The sun just turned red and sank below the horizon (All that smoke must have embarrassed it).
