By visiting the eye doctor.

If you're having trouble reading material that you've never have problems before. Squinting, moving back from the material or getting frequent headaches while reading is a pretty good sign.

Hey Shel! Why not go in for an eye exam. They will check for the need for corrective lenses and will let you know of any other irregularities. :)

How can I tell if I need beading passes?
-
Headaches, blurred vision are usually a good indicator, if you feel you have to strain your eyes to read even after short periods of watching tv or reading then probably best to get them checked out :)

I used to be an avid reader and over the years I just stopped. It didn't seem as enjoyable anymore. One day as a joke I tried on a friends reading glasses and the words just leapt off the page at me. It was amazing. Try one of the pharmacy counters where they let you try them on and see if it makes a difference.

If you squint when reading. You can't really make out the words on the page. You could also go to the eye doctor and get checked.
-
I'm sorry I can't quite read what your question says. I think I may have to go purchase some reading glasses.

When your arms are too short to hold your book at a comfortable distance, you know. When the words melt and slide right off the page, you know. When you think someone must be pumping gas because you can see the fumes, you know. Get your eyes to a qualified ophthalmologist and get an eye exam! I have an appointment at 9:00 tomorrow morning for mine!!

Trust me, you'll know. Yes, headaches are an early sign, but these days headaches are ignored by people so much ("oh it's just stress, I'll pop a pill") that nobody bothers finding the cause of them. One thing that hasn't been mentioned here is that sometimes due to your eyes straining to read close, they will actually "lock up" in close range and after a lot of reading, you'll have a temporary blur at a distance. If you find that happening, readers will fix it.

People who need reading glasses often find they have to hold print far away from their eyes. Sometimes they report their arms seem to be getting shorter because they cannot hold things far away enough to see clearly.

got to the opticians when you have difficulty reading things and your sitting a metre away from the news paper to read it love
-
Can you read this? I <<thats supposed to be ONE straight line, if you see more than that then you need reading glasses.
