You know, I find it disturbing how many people think that they have a right to know about the private lives of public people. The vast majority of people would be outraged if their private lives were treated to the same scrutiny as celebrity’s live are. How many of you would like to have camera’s thrust into your face every time you left your house? How many of you would like having gossip columnists rummaging through your garbage looking for any tidbit of information that they blow into a huge scandal? How many of you would like having your private lives splashed all over the supermarket tabloids for all the world to se? I dare say that very few of you would enjoy any of that. Yet many of you same people don’t see anything wrong with invading the privacy of others simply because they are famous. Many of you don’t seem to see anything wrong with speculating on the sexual proclivities of a man that has done nothing to warrant such disrespect or character assassination. You may disagree with his policies. That is your right. This is just immature and says more about your lack of intelligence than it does about the person you are trying to denigrate. And don’t give me the comparison to Bill Clinton either. Like it or not, Clinton’s private life became a public matter because it opened him up to a sexual harassment lawsuit. Had he not been constantly chasing after women to whom he was not married, he would not have been sued and the details would not have become public knowledge. As the relevant laws are written, when a person alleges sexual harassment, then that person has the right to dig into the accused’s personal life in an attempt to establish a pattern of behavior. That is the law. This is why Clinton’s private life became public domain. Had he not live his life thus, his private life would have remained private. In the case of Bush, no one has open legal proceedings against him on an accusation of sexual misconduct. So, this part of his life is none or yours or anybody else’s business.
