Does turning on the heat in your car help cool off an overheating engine? If so, how long will this llast before the engine does overheat?

Turning on the in-car heater will indeed remove heat from the engine and help it cool off. How long it takes for the engine to overheat after that depends greatly on why the engine is over heating in the first place.

Dont do it too long . I wrecked the heads on a work truck after the mechanic said to me it would be alright cause it was the heater hose that was leaking , It wasnt alright and I quit my job after the boss wanted me to pay for new motor.
