  • A nice man? Hm. He will come with A Shout with an army of angels (armed with superior weaponry, descending from the sky), and He comes to set up his kingdom on earth, all who oppose that kingdom are round up and sentenced to burn forever in a lake of fire. His kingdom is ruled by Him and only Him, and the image we have is that everybody follows Him and Worships him - of course all that had been around to oppose that idea are removed, those who are left are either ones who had "faith" or the ones who had suffered through seven years of hell and a massive defeat in the final battle. So of course they know better than to not worship Him. And before He returns there has to be this little thing called the Tribulation. It is seven years of one catastrophe followed by a greater catastrophe. Disease, famine, Strange locust that don't eat plants instead they eat human flesh (What alien life form is this?). The sun becoming so strong that it burns men who are outside (that sounds like some sort of death ray to me) Meteors the size of mountains crashing down causing gigantic waves that flood all the coasts (Obviously "shot" at earth from someone in space) all of these end up taking out 2/3 of the worlds population, destroying coastal cities and we can imagine that Earth's military defenses are wiped out. Now I am no military man, but it seems to me that 7 years of hell on earth that wipes out 2/3 of the population is softening up the enemy. Making the enemy powerless, sort of like opening up a war with striking the military capability of the enemy. And the final attack is an air strike of unimaginable power. Jesus Returns and everyone on earth can see Him - and the warrior angles following Him. Of course He wins this Final Battle. Sure, 4 billion (2/3 of the population is a lot of people) dead, earth quakes and meteorites and floods taking out every military base and defense grid we have. I'm certain that the landing of countless angels on a devastated planet results in quick defeat for earthlings. And no you do not get rewarded for being a "good person" Works without faith do not earn you points. In fact it appears that no matter how good you are, if you do not accept Jesus as your Lord (and master) you are punished - set to the burning lake of fire. But here is the clincher, you can be the most vile and wicked of people, the kind of person that snaps the necks of puppies for fun, kicks children and knocks old ladies down all of your life - but you don't get sent to the lake of fire as long as you accept Jesus as your Lord (and master). Is that something a "nice man" would do? The Return of Jesus should be seen as Him coming down, swinging a sword, claiming the whole world as His own - those who live have to worship Him. In the world any man who strives to take over the world, you know Hitler, Napoleon - usually demand to be the supreme ruler and any who oppose him are quickly dispatched. These sorts of men are usually not the nicest of men. So you tell me, a world dictator who has completely devastated earth and demands complete loyalty on pain of death from the survivors. Does that sound like a "nice man" to you?
  • As you know, Jesus always talked in parables. Here is the one that if you may read it and consider. It may reveal to you the purpose of second coming of the Christ. Interpretive “Assumptions” of the parable quoted: Vineyard = earth Owner of the vineyard = God Tenants = us, people Servants = prophets, (Moses, Jeremiah, Elijah, etc…) Owners son = Jesus Story: The Parable of the Tenants 9He went on to tell the people this parable: "A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time. 10At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 11He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed. 12He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out. 13"Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.' 14"But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. 'This is the heir,' they said. 'Let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.' 15So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. "What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them? 16He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others." When the people heard this, they said, "May this never be!" 17 Jesus looked directly at them and asked, "Then what is the meaning of that which is written: " The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone. 18 Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed." 19The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people. The main scripture referencing His reason for the second coming is in the Bible: John 14: 1-3, (KJV) 1 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. “ 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
  • No, Santa Claus comes every year while the "Second Coming of Christ" has not been released yet and many have been born and died waiting for it.
  • Yes, they are similar. Christ is supposed to come and somehow straighten us all out. I don't know. If he hasn't come by now I think maybe he's busy elsewhere.
  • No. Santa Claus is an imposter and Jesus is very angry at this wicked world, so I'd say when He comes back, it won't be a nice or joyful time for most people. The Bible tells us that people will hide from Him and beg the mountains to fall on them. There will also be lots of people who lived good and decent lives who will spend eternity in the lake of fire because they rejected Jesus Christ as their Savior. I hope that this is helpful. :) -In the service of the Master. Thank you and God bless you!
  • In Matthew 25 the second coming of Christ is related to how the nations treat the hungry, the naked, the stranger and the imprisoned. Those who took care of the suffering are rewarded, those who did not are punished. Matthew 25 suggests that we meet Christ in those who need are help. It sounds sort of like the life Mother Theresa lived. I am not sure what the idea of Santa Claus for Adults is about. The ads on television seem to suggest it is about getting a new BMW for Christmas. Meanwhile 2/3's of the world goes to bed hungry, while we spend another ten billion dollars a month killing people in Iraq. Perhaps we should take Matthew 25 more seriously and try to live by the values of the kingdom that Jesus sought to create.
  • LOL. A 'nice man'??? Have you actually READ any Scripture? His Return is NOT going to be a joyful occasion for most. Christians are happy about it mainly because the rest of you people are gonna get yours at last. That's not Santa. That's Dirty Harry.
  • The Biblical apocalypse is when God will brutally murder 3/4 of the worlds population, and when he finishes, Christ will rejudge the dead and judge the living. So yeah... no.
  • I would say the event is highly unlikely, if not impossible. If a supernatural being was to magically appear on earth she or he would not claim to represent any religion.
  • The Second Coming of Christ is a biblical prophecy which is yet to be fulfilled. He would come for His redeemed people.
  • Eventually yes, Jesus will bring peace, joy, and happiness but initially His Second Coming is far from peaceful. Read Revelation 19:11-21 for a detailed description of this event. Jesus' first coming was for salvation of all that will call upon His name. His second coming is as a Conqueror. To bring judgment upon those who practice injustice and upon an unbelieving world.
  • It will not be a nice thing when He comes back, but it will be a wonderful thing for some and a horrible thing for most.
