No. Don't necessarily move on. For example congrats questions have top answers but that doesn't mean you can't congratulate someone. Or many opinion answers also allow for another answer to become the top despite one being already. As for factual ones, if you think someone answered better than you could that's your choice if you move on or not, if you have something to add I'd highly reccomend adding your own input.

Just go on and answer any question you wish to answer , thats just how many have answered the question and you can go to Answers and Ratings and that can explain a lot to you --- And Welcome to Answerbag its a great place

yes there is a point to give your own point of virew on the question and I could be wrong about this one but the reason a top answer is a top answer is it has gotten the most points so that means it can always be knocked out of the top spot if your answer eventually gets more points than the one currently at the top

The top answer is the top answer because it was rated up by the readers. Since readers are free to vote on every new answer that is posted to a question, it is quite possible that your answer could become the top answer if it is better than all of the others posted before it. Voting on answers never closes on this site. So, don't let the fact that there is already a top answer stop you from answer a question if you have something to add to the discussion. On the other hand, if what you have to say is just a rephrasing of an answer that has already been posted to the question, then I would suggest that you just rate up the answer(s) with which you agree and perhaps leave a comment.

Welcome to Answerbag! To post or not to post... really it is a good question and it really depends on the question. You can answer any question you choose. I usually go by the following: If it as a question that is looking for a specific answer and the correct answer is posted (example: What is the legal drinking age in California)then you can just rate the answer and move on or if somebody with speedy fingers has already put the answer you were going to put and you have nothing additional to add to it again just uprate (since you obviously agree with the answer) post a comment if you would like and go on. If it is a question that is asking for an opinion, insight, suggestions, answers based on YOU or YOUR situation, or if you just have something to add please feel free to post an answer. We love to hear from everybody! The great thing about Answerbag is that you can get alot of answers from people who have a vast array of experiences and knowledge and get some that you might not have thought of or considered. Dont worry about being the top answer, every answer is valuable, the top ones just had more people agree with it or think it was a good enough answer to rate. There are plenty of great answers at the bottom. Just have fun, learn, enlighten, and enjoy!
