  • I drank some socially in college, but haven't usually had more than a drink or two per year, since. I'm not against social drinking at all. It just doesn't do anything for me. Now that I have a serious illness, alcohol would interfere with some of my meds. My doc lets me reduce some of the meds so I can have a drink on my birthday. I usually get a Margarita...those were my favorite. I do use wines in cooking, when it's in a dish where I can "burn off" the alcohol and still have it impart flavor. Thanks for the question. +6

  • I enjoy drinking, but I don't drink to excess. I usually enjoy a glass of wine with my Dinner or a Highland Single Malt before it...
  • I quit drinking because of my daughter Abigail. She's sixteen months old now and it's been that long since I had anything...Having her made me change a lot of things about myself for the better!
  • I don't drink for three reasons: 1) I don't like the taste of alcohol. 2) I like to keep a clear head...well, clear enough. 3) For me, the trouble with actually getting my hands on alcohol is just too stressful for me to put up with. If I became addicted to it, I would probably lose my mind.
  • I don't drink at all because there are too many alcoholics in my family & I've seen what drinking does
  • I used to drink a lot. I don't anymore, because, it just chemically made me too depressed the next day. It finally kicked in that it wasn't worth it. I still drink, but, not so much that I feel like Hell the next day.
  • I enjoy having a beer at gatherings like holidays, birthdays, social events I like to go to bon fires and enjoy a beer or two with friends its still fun times for me.
  • I average 2 ales a night; enough to make me mellow but not enough to make me actually drunk. I am a naturally anxious person, prone to panic attacks, nervous tics, muscle spasms, and not alays able to concentrate. Anti-anxiety meds either don't work and/or have side-effects that are nastier than what they are trying to stop. Half a pint and my arm stops twitching, I don't jump at every sudden movement/noise, and I can actually stay focused on a task. Some may call it self-medication but my therapist thinks it works better than anything he could give me, so long as I don't overdo it. Two ales is one thing but three pitchers is, well, how I used to spend a Wednesday night in the Navy.

  • I frequently binge drink on the weekends. Sometimes up to thirty beers or more in a 24 hour period. It usually takes 2 days to get over those benders, and I always say I'll never do it again. It's a very bad place to be, but I always comeback for more. I just can't figure out why I guess...
  • I really don't drink that much anymore...It's more of a social thing for me, and I rarely know anyone in the city I live. I'm not the type to go get loaded by myself. Tonight is a different story though. In a few hours time, I am driving to my previous city, and getting completely sh*tfaced with my friends. I hope to not remember a thing tomorrow.

I was once told that What you love is what you spend your time on. I spent my time drinking then. Today I spend my time with my family :)
  • I do, but it's because I actually like the stuff. I wouldn't drink just to get drunk if I hated the taste, I just wouldn't see the point. At times I like to go crazy and have a lot, if I'm in the mood or at parties I can't help but enjoy getting silly.

  • Would anyone, if they reflected on the negative effects of drinking: how it can humiliate a respectable person through loss of sensible speech loss of smartness in appearance loss of self composure loss of ability to walk or even stand Now watch the person become sick in public abusive and violent on the streets and at home cause misery and strife to children and wife disturb neighbourhood in the dead of night destroying promising careers ruining good marriages causing break up of many families leaving mental scars on little Emilies causing accidents on roads, expensive vehicles battered limbs that need repairing, lives that are shattered drink damaged livers and organs struggling to cope a premature death looms if recovery has no hope costly medical and hospital resources have to be set aside for too many such cases all the earnings spent on drinks, so destructive could have been donated to a cause more constructive the drinks industry, focussed on profits, doesn't care not even a minute's silence can it spare to honour the dead, and think of the destruction caused by its intoxicating production Now there are so many liquids made by nature and man from the tropical coconut to the soft drinks can So when you feel thirsty reflect a bit and think even to be sociable do you REALLY need that drink
